Editing - Second Cut

Second Cut:
This is the second cut of my music video. In this cut, the main thing I focused on was adding and changing shots of the performance to give more variety and range in shots as before a lot of the same shots had been used throughout. I also added in a fade of clouds into performance in the second chorus to break up the long shot used.

Ancillary Tasks - Poster Research & Own Version

This is the current poster for Young Guns 'Bare Bones Club Tour ' which is advertising their new album, which was released on February 6th. The poster clearly advertises their new album by having the album artwork as the main imagery top central of the poster. The information is is displayed on a darker background which is carried on from the album's background, showing clear links. The album as a whole is displayed in a small square at the bottom right hand corner of the page (including title text etc which the top image does not show). The typography is kept clear and simple using a basic font and white to contrast against the dark background. This is important as the viewer can easily pick out the information. Special fonts are used for band names as viewers can link or relate these fonts back to the band a bit like a logo.
My own poster for my ancillary task uses a similar layout. I have Put the album artwork at the top center so that this is the focal point of the poster. I have darkened the background of the lower half so that it is easy to display information about the album and band. I added a grunge/distressed texture, representative and typical of the rock genre, over the top as well as a purple tone to match the colour used in the CD cover. As the background is dark I have also used a simple white font for the main bulk of information, using a special font to represent the band. As I am aiming to promote the CD/digipak itself, I have included a small image of the actual CD cover with all the text to show viewers what to look out for when trying to find and buy the album. At the bottom, I have included an image of the band members as this is a convention I have found that similar bands use on their own posters.

Ancillary Tasks - CD Front & Back Cover

I have completed work on the front and back cover of the CD task. I took inspiration from an online tutorial I found (posted earlier) and did my own take on it, making the final piece relate to my projects as a whole. I chose not to use Illustrator as it was quite complex and found was around it by just using Photoshop.
Following the tutorial, I cut a rounded shape from the face of the portrait and used the Layer Style tool to create a beveled and embossed edge, for a 3D look to the hole. Using the layers, I layered in a variety of objects that linked to the band and my video.
Firstly, I added in the bands logo and using the transform tool, skewed one corner to the image looked angled rather than front on. I used an image of stars and space as the background as Young Guns have used similar imagery on their current album artwork. I took images of clouds and added them in, making it look like it was coming out of the face, adding depth. I added in some rain as well using the paint brush tool with a motion blur filter added over the top.

Ancillary Tasks - Photography

On Tuesday, I took some photos of my protagonists, Luke & Emily, That can be used for my digi-pack and poster tasks. I took portraits of Luke as a close up from the front and this image will act as the front cover of my CD case. I took a photo from the same angle and distance of the back of his head for the back cover. I took profile shots of both Emily & Luke from different sides which I will then silhouette these images in Photoshop to mimic scenes from my music video.
Using the tutorial I have posted below, I will use photoshop to manipulate my portraits to the montage style of the tutorial. I will now look through my video and find still that have shots and images that I can also use for this front cover image.
Looking through my video, I have picked out some stills which are quite iconic to my music video and that I could use as part of my front cover montage. I have chosen the logo, rain, guitar, message in a bottle, clouds/light rays and silhouetting.
